Around twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, generating strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Impact
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7 centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units deployed to handle the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, around one thousand residents in Victoria also faced power outages after the capital city experienced its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred calls for help across the state, mostly for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

Tuesday was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity anticipated across various areas of both states.

Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
