Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major film company and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
